The Chase Sapphire Reserve link is now live! Keep in mind, I do not receive commissions on credit card links, so you can be sure I will always tell you the good and bad.
The first thing you need to know about this card is that does fall under Chase’s 5/24 rule (5 cards in 24 months). If you have opened a new credit card account and it reflects on your credit report within the last 24 months, that will count towards the cap of “5” accounts. Even if you’ve since closed the account, Chase can still see your account open date.
Example: If you have opened four American Express cards, one Citi card, and you are an authorized user on a Chase card – all in the last two years – that would put your number at 6/24.
Some folks are reporting that Chase Private clients have a better odds of approval when applying in a local Chase branch. Also, you can view a bunch off data points on this Reddit thread and this one, to get an idea of your approval odds.
If you do get a “pending decision” message, which is different than an instant approval or denial, you can call reconsideration and follow these steps:
• Call 1-800-432-3117 – hit #, 3, 1 and check the status. If the status says 2 weeks it hasn’t been processed yet. If it says 30 days, likely approval, if it says 7-10 days likely denial.
