I’ll keep this short and sweet. If you can swing a last-minute getaway, you are going to score the deal of a lifetime.
Wow Airlines is offering a few dates, very last-minute, to Europe for $157. That is not a typo, $157 will get you from the West Coast, to Europe, and back. You even get to sit inside of the plane, how cool is that?
Read my review of Wow Airlines so you know what to expect and how to avoid extra fees. Another thing to remember, you have 24 hours to cancel a flight for a full refund, so it is wise to book now and try to make the arrangements work this evening when you have a moment. If they don’t work out, just cancel for a full refund. The only kicker is that the flight must be booked at least 7 days in advance for this courtesy 24 hour cancellation policy.
I like to find availability on Google Flights and then book on Wow Air when I find my desired dates. Keep in mind, the dates are very limited at this price and you will have a layover in Reykjavik, Iceland.
You can also fly San Francisco or Los Angeles to Copenhagen/Stockholm for $69 one-way. Flights are cheaper going to Europe than on the way home. There are departure and customs fees you must pay on the return flight, those costs are built into every ticket, even if you use points to pay.
For those who don’t live in the LAX or SFO area, there are some really great deals even if you have to fly into L.A. (called a positioning flight). Nearby Long Beach airport (LGB) is a major hub for JetBlue which offers very affordable flights from many cities on the West Coast.
If you need to save on hotels, I would recommend giving AirBNB a try if you are a first time user. My referral link will give you a $35 discount on your first AirBNB stay, which will definitely be cheaper than a conventional hotel. The other benefit to AirBNB is you enrich yourself in the local culture with more interaction and conversation.
