Every quarter our friends over at IHG release a narrow list of properties called PointBreaks. The beauty is that these hotels can be booked for just 5,000 IHG points per night. The standard rate for many of these hotels is typically 15,000-25,000 per night. The list is not live yet, but check back HERE often this morning (4/24) as they could go live anytime.

To be honest, I don’t see any properties that really jump out at me. If you are looking to head to NYC, this Holiday Inn in Somerset is about 40 miles from Manhattan. At just 5,000 points per night, you really can’t beat that. At just 16 miles from the Texas state capitol building, this Holiday Inn Express is a good option if you are heading to the Austin area.
Another decent option is the Crowne Plaza in Nagasaki, Japan, normally 20,000 IHG points per night, 75% savings!
Reminders:
You can book IHG properties and cancel with no penalty up to one day before arrival. I highly recommend booking some tentative dates without hesitation. IHG only releases a select number of nights to be booked at the 5,000 point rate, per hotel. Once they are all called-for, the rates go back up to normal.
You can transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards to IHG instantly at a 1:1 ratio. I see many hotels in this list that have a nightly rate of $120, that means you’d be getting over two cents a point, definitely a viable option.
